Reciclar EsCultura is the first national sculpture contest made from garbage collected from rivers, beaches, seas, mangroves and coasts. The main objective was to increase awareness of the impact we have on our natural environment, which we can chance with our actions from negative to positive.

After the registration process was closed in early May, we received about 200 participants, of which 52 sent their sculptures. People nationwide participated, from Isla Taboga, to Cambutal, Veraguas and David. We had a series of talks and trainings on topics related to the environment as well as art and sculpture. You can watch the recording here.

Winning Sculptures

A selected jury composed of: Eduardo Navarro, Tessie Moreno Arias, Donna Conlon, Darién Montañez and Daniela Arias, evaluated the sculptures selecting 20 finalists, of which 6 were awarded as winners. The sculptures were exhibited for two weeks in the lobby of the MMG Tower and then in a virtual gallery on the GRID page.

This contest was made thanks to the support of Fundación Natura, Biomuseo, Grid Galería, Star5, and the Embassy of Israel, who sponsored 5 of the 6 prizes of $ 1,000 each.
